Peter Michelena is a tested leader, committed to the people and community of Brazos County.
I never set out to become a politician. My work as Quartermaster at VFW Post 4692 led people to encourage me to watch county government more closely. I began attending Commissioners Court meetings and watching the votes. The spending and lack of accountability I witnessed convinced me to run.
LEADERSHIP SHAPED BY SERVICE
U.S. Marine Corps Veteran • Recipient of Two Purple Hearts
My leadership was shaped in the Marine Corps and strengthened through years of service in Brazos County. I learned to prepare carefully, act decisively, take responsibility, and always put the mission and the people I serve first.
Building Inspection and Field Engineering
My experience in construction, field engineering, and as a City of Bryan building inspector taught me to evaluate existing commercial buildings, proposed projects, construction plans, field conditions, municipal requirements, sequencing, safety, maintenance, and total cost. I will use that practical background to ask informed questions, identify concerns early, and protect taxpayers from avoidable surprises.
VFW Leadership and Asset Management
As Quartermaster, Chief Finance Officer, and Operations Officer at VFW Post 4692, I help manage a nonprofit with more than $2 million in annual financial activity. My responsibilities include finances, records, property, day-to-day operations, budgeting, and responsible management of assets. That hands-on experience matters because Brazos County manages roads, buildings, equipment, land, contracts, and other public assets that must be protected for the long term.
Texas A&M
I am a proud member of the Texas A&M Class of 2016. I studied Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology and was involved with One Army Men’s Organization and the Aggie Wranglers. Those communities strengthened my appreciation for teamwork, discipline, tradition, and selfless service.
A PERSONAL NOTE
Leadership matters most when decisions are difficult. My experience has taught me to get the facts, weigh the consequences, make the decision, and take responsibility for the outcome.
That is the leadership I will bring to Precinct 4.

Protecting Your Tax Dollars
Every tax dollar belongs to the people who earned it. I will examine budgets and major expenditures, question assumptions, consider long-term costs, and insist that county funds and assets are managed responsibly.
Responsible Growth & Infrastructure
Brazos County is growing, and our roads, drainage, facilities, and public services must keep pace. I will use my experience in construction, building inspection, field engineering, and project management to evaluate plans, control costs, and support growth that protects our communities and property rights.
Responsive Representation
Public service does not end when the courthouse closes. I will remain accessible, listen carefully, respond to concerns, and ensure Precinct 4 residents have a representative who is present and willing to work for them.
Transparency & Accountability
Residents deserve clear information before important decisions are made, not explanations after the fact. I will explain proposals, costs, alternatives, and my votes in plain language, and I will take responsibility for every decision I make.
